Identity and Country in a First Nations Context

A listening space to hear about the relationship between these two critical concerns of First Nations people, as a prequel to Wellspring’s 2023 dialogue on Care for Creation from Celtic and First Nations Christian perspectives, with events culminating in the visit of Iona Community Leader Rev. Ruth Harvey through October 2023.

Brooke is a Wakka Wakka woman, a prominent Aboriginal Christian leader, and former CEO of Common Grace, with which Wellspring currently partners. As well as being a chartered accountant and company director, Brooke is a well-known speaker, a published writer, and a poet, with a range of media roles behind her including hosting the Soul Search programme on ABC Radio National, appearances on The Drum for ABC TV, and Christianity Today in the USA. Rhanee is an Adnyamathanha woman working at the University of Adelaide, including as Chief Investigator on an NHMRC-funded project on Indigenous kidney care, and at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute with the National Indigenous Kidney Transplantation Taskforce. Rhanee is also a published children’s author, cultural educator, writer, and artist, working with school and community groups.
Naomi is a Trawloolway woman lecturing in Indigenous Studies at Whitley College in the University of Divinity in the NAIITS programme (formerly North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies). Naomi is also completing a research Masters degree on women of the Late Second Temple Period at the Australian Catholic University. Her particular interests include Indigenous pedagogies and theology.
